How We Judge

How we evaluate tools, where our data comes from, and why you can trust these verdicts

How We Evaluate

RankJudge does not run proprietary lab tests. We assess every tool against the same six dimensions using published industry benchmarks, vendor documentation, and public pricing. Where a number comes from someone else's research, we cite it.

Keyword Research

Can it find low-competition keywords you can rank for? We compare database size, filtering depth, and difficulty scoring against each vendor's published specifications.

Rank Tracking

How often does it refresh, how many keywords are included, and which search engines does it cover? Drawn from vendor documentation and current pricing pages.

Content Optimization

What does it check, and how does its scoring model compare to alternatives like Surfer and NeuronWriter? Assessed on documented capability and published comparisons.

GEO/AEO (AI Visibility)

Which answer engines does it monitor, and does it audit your site for the structure large language models need in order to cite you? Assessed on documented engine coverage.

Pricing & Value

What do you get for the money? We compare list pricing, included seats, credit limits, and overage terms across tiers.

Ease of Use

Can a beginner use this, or do you need an SEO PhD? We grade on learning curve, interface clarity, and support quality.

Our Data Sources

Every verdict is backed by published benchmarks from authoritative sources:

  • Ahrefs: AI Overview CTR impact, general SEO benchmarks
  • Semrush: ROI statistics, AI adoption rates, benchmark data
  • BrightEdge: AI Overview prevalence by industry
  • Seer Interactive: Citation impact on click-through rates
  • seoClarity: LLM sourcing behavior
  • Slate: Time-saving benchmarks for AI tools
  • GoodFirms: GEO/AEO adoption rates

We don't make up numbers. Every claim is cited or testable.

Why Our Verdicts Matter

No Paid Placements

Vendors don't pay for better scores. Tools appear based on quality and fit for the category, not commission size.

No Proprietary Testing Claims

We do not run lab benchmarks and we never pretend otherwise. Our value is interpretation: taking published research from Ahrefs, Semrush, BrightEdge and others, and working out what it means for your situation. Anyone claiming twelve weeks of independent testing should show you the data.

Honest Tradeoffs

Every tool is good at something and bad at something. We show both. A tool that's cheap but slow is still a valid pick if speed doesn't matter to you.

Original Benchmarking

We interpret published industry benchmarks and map them to tool selection. This means you get both authority (cited sources) and unique perspective (our interpretation).

Regular Updates

AI SEO tools change fast. Pricing updates, new features, bugs fixed. We re-test verdicts as tools evolve.

Affiliate Transparency

RankJudge includes affiliate links to most tools we recommend. Here's how we handle it:

Full Disclosure

We clearly mark when links are affiliate links. If you buy through us, we get a small commission. This doesn't change our verdicts.

No Payback Bias

We don't bump scores higher for tools with better affiliate terms. We don't remove runner-ups just because they don't have affiliate programs.

Affiliate ≠ Inclusion

Having an affiliate program doesn't mean a tool gets featured on RankJudge. We feature tools we believe are genuinely best-in-class for specific use cases.

Why We Do This

Affiliate links fund the testing, benchmarking, and content creation that make these verdicts possible. Without them, this site wouldn't exist. We're transparent about it because that's what honest looks like.
