What these tools charged, and when

Every price we publish carries the date we read it. This is the record behind that — what we found, what moved, and the times we got it wrong ourselves.

What we have caught so far

11 of the 16 tools we track have a change on record,13 entries in total. Most of them are corrections to our own figures rather than vendor price rises, which is the honest shape of a record like this early on — and the reason every figure here carries the date we read it.

We re-read every pricing page on this list once a quarter, on the first of January, April, July and October, and sooner for any tool a page we are writing depends on. It was monthly until the September 2026 review, which turned up four errors in the first five pages we opened and took a day rather than an hour. A cadence we can actually keep is worth more than one that sounds diligent.

Ahrefs

We had Ahrefs down as one user with no seats for sale, which made our own calculator tell a four-person team it could not be licensed. Its pricing page sells extra users on every tier above Starter, at $40, $60 and $80 a month depending on the plan. The June 2025 archive shows the same three figures, so this was never a change — we had simply not read far enough down the page.

Ahrefs

Added the annual rates, which we had never recorded: Lite $108 a month, Standard $208, Advanced $374, and Starter unchanged at $29 because the annual toggle does not discount it. Without them we had been comparing Ahrefs’ monthly price against a Semrush annual price, which is the mistake this site exists to catch. Also added the Enterprise tier at $1,499 with $100 seats.

Semrush

We had $117.33 recorded as the monthly price. It is the annual rate: Semrush’s page reads "$117.33/mo billed annually instead of $139 monthly". Paying month to month costs $139. This is the same error we have caught other comparison sites making, on our own figures, and it had been on the site since 4 September.

Moz Pro

No price change, but a correction to what we concluded from these figures. Our Ahrefs comparison said Ahrefs was cheaper at every team size either tool can serve. That is true billed monthly. Billed annually, Moz Medium at $143 a month undercuts Ahrefs Lite plus one seat at $148 for exactly two people, and we had no Ahrefs annual rates recorded to notice it.

Search Atlas

We had $79 recorded as Search Atlas’ monthly price. It is the annual rate — the page reads “$79 /mo, $950.00 billed annually” and defaults to the annual toggle. Paying month to month is $99, which is the same price as Outrank rather than $20 under it. This is the second time in one review we have found an annual rate recorded as a monthly one. We had also recorded no seats at all: Starter includes 1, Growth 3, Pro 5 and Agency 10, and none of them sell extras. The note that AI visibility starts at $159 was reading the annual price of the Growth tier; monthly it is $199.

Profound

Profound has gone sales-led. On 4 September we read a Starter tier at $99 a month tracking ChatGPT only. The page now publishes no price at all: a free Trial (50 prompts daily for 7 days, across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews) and an Enterprise tier marked “Custom”, up to 9 answer engines, behind a demo request. We could not confirm the old figure against the Internet Archive because it was offline when we checked, so our own dated reading of 4 September is the only record either way. Removed from the calculator rather than guessed at.

AthenaHQ

Three things we had not recorded. There is an annual rate: $245 a month billed annually against $295 monthly, a 17% discount behind a toggle. There is now a free Essential tier with 300 credits across five engines. And Starter states visibility across 11 models, not the 10 we had written down — the page lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral.

Baby Love Growth

Two changes and one correction. The Grow plan is still 99 a month, but the page now prices in US dollars where we recorded euros in September, and we could find no currency switcher — only a language one, and the URL redirected to the English path. The number is the same either way, so anyone outside the United States should check what their own page says. The annual rate has moved: our Keysearch comparison recorded €75 a month billed yearly in September, and the page now shows $49. That figure had never reached this file, which is why the calculator had no annual rate for it — a figure recorded on one page and not in the data is a figure that goes stale unnoticed. The Scale tier has moved the same way: our pages recorded €399 a month and €291 billed yearly, and it now reads $399 and $199. Neither tier had ever been entered in this file, only in the prose of two comparisons, so the calculator could not see them.

Distribb

The $97 monthly price is unchanged, but we had never recorded the annual rate: $79 a month, billed $948 a year, which the page calls two months free. There is also a second tier we had missed, Accelerator, at $495 a month or $399 annually. Our comparison page called this a single-plan product, which it is not.

Agility Writer

No price change, but a trap worth recording. The page shows $28 struck through to $25, and $25 is not an annual rate — it is 10% off with the coupon code AWOFF, applied on the monthly price. The genuine yearly option is a different product shape: one-off credit bundles, $240 a year for 300 credits against the monthly plan’s 40 credits a month, so it is not a per-month equivalent of any monthly tier and stays recorded as null. There is also a Pro tier at $98 a month that we had not recorded.

Moz Pro

We found a Starter plan at $49 a month that our own Ahrefs comparison had missed, and corrected the page. Moz Pro does not start at $99.

SEOwriting.ai

Its widely quoted $14 turned out to be the yearly rate. Paying month to month is $19, which every comparison we read had omitted — including, until we caught it, our own /compare page.

10 September 2026

LowFruits

Re-reading both pages found Keysearch at $20 on annual billing against LowFruits at $20.75. LowFruits had been the cheaper of the two, and this site had said so for weeks before catching it.

Going further back, in the vendor's own words

For anything older than our own records we open the vendor's page in the Internet Archive and read the capture. A historical price from another comparison site is not evidence; a dated capture of the vendor's own page is.

Moz Pro, captured 3 June 2025

Showed: $49 / $39, $99 / $79, $179 / $143, $299 / $239 (monthly / yearly)

Identical to the live page on 26 September 2026 on every tier, except that the $49 plan no longer shows a $39 yearly rate. Moz Pro has not moved its prices in fifteen months — and the $49 entry plan existed the whole time.

Ahrefs, captured 2 June 2025

Showed: $29, $129, $249, $449, $1,499, with extra users at $40 / $60 / $80

Identical to the live page on 30 September 2026. The extra-user prices were there in 2025 too, which means our own pages describing Ahrefs as one user with no seats were wrong from the start rather than out of date.

Entry price is the cheapest plan on each page, which is not always the plan you would buy. The calculator works out what each actually costs at your team size.

What this record cannot tell you

  • Prices before we started reading, except where the Internet Archive captured the vendor's page. Several of these tools have no useful archive coverage at all.
  • Anything a vendor offers off the public page — negotiated rates, lifetime deals sold elsewhere, or discounts behind a sales call.
  • Whether a plan's contents changed while its price stayed the same. We record the figures; a tier quietly losing a feature would not show here.
  • Currency. Ahrefs shows a currency based on where you are, and Baby Love Growth prices in euros, which we do not convert.

Common questions

Have AI SEO tool prices gone up in 2026?
Not among the ones we can check. Moz Pro and Ahrefs both show identical figures in June 2025 archive captures and on their live pages in late September 2026. What changes more often is what a plan includes, and which number a vendor shows by default.
How do you know what a tool used to cost?
Two ways, both first-hand. We record every price we read with the date we read it, and for anything older we open the vendor’s own page in the Internet Archive and read the capture. We never take a historical price from another comparison site.
How often does RankJudge check tool prices?
Monthly, and before any figure goes on a page. Vendor pricing moves quietly and comparison pages rarely get revisited, which is how this site once spent weeks telling readers LowFruits was the cheaper of two tools when it was not.
Why do other sites quote different prices for the same tool?
Usually because they quote the annual rate as if it were monthly. Pricing pages show the discounted yearly figure by default, and a comparison that never switches the toggle understates the cost by a fifth or more. We record both numbers.

Prices change. That is the point.

A price without a date is a guess with good posture. Every figure on this site carries one, and this page is where the movement gets written down.
