Dated prices, free tools and original research, so you can check an AI SEO claim before you spend money on it

What you can settle here

Most comparison sites list features and stop. These pages answer the questions that actually decide a purchase:

  • What does a tool cost today, on the billing basis you will actually be charged?
  • Can AI assistants reach your site at all, or is something quietly blocking them?
  • Which claims about AI search survive being checked against the source they cite?
  • Which tool suits your situation, rather than the reviewer's?
  • What does GEO, AEO and the rest of the vocabulary actually mean?

Where your whole decision turns on one feature of one tool rather than on which tool to buy, that feature gets its own feature review.

How to check whether any of this is true

  • One named person wrote all of it. Ron Kloth, under his own name, on every page. The verdicts name losers, and a recommendation nobody signs is one nobody can be held to.
  • Every figure carries the date it was read. Prices come off the vendor's own page, and the page says which billing basis it quotes.
  • You can see our mistakes. One routine re-check in September 2026 produced 13 corrections to figures already published here. They are listed, dated, on price history.
  • We test nothing and never say we do. We read vendor pages and published research. What we could not confirm is written down beside what we could.
  • Nothing is collected from you. No newsletter, no contact form, no email gate, including on the free tools and the free PDF.

AI SEO Fact Check 2026, free PDF

Eleven claims the industry repeats as fact, each one traced to the document it rests on and checked. Four are false, two misread the source they cite, two have been measured without establishing anything, two are true of far less than they claim, and one holds up. Fourteen pages, thirteen sources, every figure dated. No email required.

AI humanizers, and the detector claim to ignore

Seven AI detectors flagged 61.22% of essays written by real people as machine-written, in a study published in Patterns. What a humanizer genuinely fixes, what a rewrite quietly breaks, and what the tool we would use costs on both billing bases.

Outrank backlinks, and what they cost you

Outrank bundles automated link building into its $99 plan, which is rare at that price. The credits are earned by hosting links on your own site, and Google publishes three clauses that bear on that. Prices read 17 October 2026.

Original Research

Which sites AI assistants actually cite

We downloaded the raw data behind a 100-prompt study and counted 1,050 citations ourselves. 85.3% of cited domains appeared exactly once, the top ten took 11.5% between them, and two of the biggest names in software comparison never appeared at all.

What the other "best AI SEO tools" lists do not tell you

We read the lists that rank for this query and recorded who wrote them, what they disclose, and how many of the tools they recommend pay them. It is the only original research on this site.

What Makes These Resources Different

Sourced, Not Invented

We run no benchmarks of our own and never claim to. Every figure here was published by somebody else — BrightEdge, First Page Sage, Ahrefs, Semrush and others — and carries their name and the date we read it. Where we could not confirm something, the page says so instead of rounding it up.

Actionable, Not Abstract

We don't explain what GEO is in a vacuum. We show why ChatGPT citations now matter more than Google rankings, and which tools solve for that.

Honest About Tradeoffs

Every tool is good at something and bad at something. We show both. A cheap tool with a steep learning curve is still valuable if you have time to learn it.

No Neutral Summary Engine

We take a stand. We believe certain benchmarks (like the +120% citation premium) matter more than others. We're transparent about it and support it with data.

Fresh as Tools Change

AI SEO tools update constantly. Pricing changes, features ship, bugs get fixed. We refresh these resources as the landscape evolves.
